Apply dark Wax to age and give texture to your paintwork. Dark wax gives a coffee colour 'stain' to the paint which enhances the finished piece. Always seal your newly painted chalk paint piece with clear wax first. The clear wax bonds with the paint, creating a sealed surface. You can then apply dark wax within hours of clear waxing. Dark wax can be applied with a cloth or a wax brush. The wax brush allows you to push the wax into intricate details easily however a cloth and an old toothbrush can work just as effectively.
Directions:
First apply a thin coat of clear Chalk Paint® Wax, removing any excess with a lint free cotton cloth. Lightly buff the clear wax. Next, apply the Dark Wax, pushing it into the paintwork to bring out brush marks and recesses. Buff the finished piece with a clean lint free cotton cloth. The waxing process protects the paint and provides a water resistant finish. All wax finishes take between 7 and 14 days to cure. Do not place hot cups or wet surfaces directly on the piece until after the curing process.
